Herbal Tea

You can use dried or fresh herbs to make herbal tea. Chamomile, mint, rose hips, lavender, lemongrass are just a few options of herbs to use-and you can mix and match! Dried herbs are more concentrated than fresh herbs, so you can use half the amount of dried herbs compared to fresh, or decide based on how strong you like your herbal tea. Pour hot water over the herbs (inside a tea bag or mesh steeper ball, or you can strain out the herbs later). Steep the herbs in hot water for up to 5 minutes. Drink warm or put in the fridge for iced tea later.

Alcohol-Based Tincture

Ingredients:

  • Herb of choice

  • 40% vodka (in glass bottle)

  • 1 glass jar

  • Parchment paper

  • Masking tape for labelling

  • Cheesecloth or nut milk bag

Directions:

  1. Fill up glass jar with herbs halfway.

  2. Add vodka so that level of the liquid is at least two inches above the herb.

  3. Place parchment paper between the lid and jar. (This is done to prevent the rubber seal from dissolving.)

  4. Seal jar tightly.

  5. Label jar with date, percentage alcohol, herbs, and method used.

  6. Shake two times per day for one month.

  7. After a month squeeze out the menstruum (the resulting liquid) using cheesecloth or a nut milk bag.

Vinegar-Based Tincture

Ingredients:

  • Dried herbs

  • Glass container with a tight-sealing lid (quart- or gallon-sized jar)

  • Apple cider vinegar

  • Kitchen strainer or cheesecloth

  • Funnel

  • Stopper bottles

Directions:

  1. Fill the glass container full of dried herbs

  2. Pour apple cider vinegar over the herbs, until they are completely submerged.

  3. Cap the container tightly. Label your tincture with the contents and the date you started.

  4. Store the container in a cool, dark place. Each day, shake the bottle to agitate the contents.

  5. After two weeks, pour the solution into stopper bottles, straining it through a kitchen strainer or cheesecloth to remove bits of dried herb. You don't need to strain all the tincture at once; you can strain just enough to fill one or two stopper bottles, leaving the rest in the jar to use as you need more.

Arthritis & Joint Pain Remedy

Ingredients:

  • 3 Avocado pits

  • 1/5th of Vodka (the cheapest you can find)

  • Kitchen Towel

  • Hammer

Directions:

  1. Wrap the Avocados pits in the kitchen towel for 5 days

  2. After the 5 days, while in the kitchen towel, crush the pits small enough to fit in the neck of the Vodka bottle.

  3. Place in the liquid in the sun, it will turn pink on the first day and red after that.

  4. Apply to inflamed area, you should feel relief immediately

  5. Potion should be kept in the sun always.
