The Teaching Garden at Governors Island

The GrowNYC Teaching Garden, located on Governors Island, is a one-acre urban farm that strives to engage, excite, and educate visitors on all aspects of urban farming. The Teaching Garden welcomes NYC students and summer camp participants for field trips, where children can plant, water, harvest, and cook a variety of vegetables, herbs, and fruits. Additionally, guided tours are available for older adult centers. To register for a field trip, please see the information below.

The Teaching Garden is also open to the public on weekends between May 1st and October 31st from 12 pm to 4 pm, where visitors can enjoy tours, garden and nutrition-related workshops, and more. This year, we are excited to offer a donation-based farm stand on Saturdays and Sundays. For more information, please visit our Public Programs page.
